Sony is improving its small "vlogging" camera ZV-E10 - the new Generation II (as rumored in advance) has a new sensor, thanks to which 4K video recordings with 60p are now possible as well as 120p in Full HD quality (XAVC-S). The Exmor R APS-C sensor (26MP effective) is read out with 5.6K oversampling and optionally with 10-bit 4:2:2. The latest BIONZ XR is used as the image processor.

Further updates to the ZV-E10 II include, according to Sony, an optimized autofocus with 7595 points for phase detection (photo), real-time eye AF for people/animals/birds and real-time tracking as well as improved functionalities for video recording. These include a new vertical user interface (UI), a new high-capacity Sony Z battery (NP-FZ100) and also improved connectivity for easy live streaming and data transfer. According to specifications, timecode functions and proxy recording are now also supported.
The camera also supports S-Log3 Gamma (as before) and user-defined LUT files can be imported.
Cinematic vlogs and creative looks With the ZV-E10 II, "cinematic vlogs", i.e. scenes with the character of a feature film, can be captured at the touch of a button. The function automatically adjusts the aspect ratio, frame rate and AF transition speed to the optimum, after which five look options such as S-Cinetone (to enhance skin tones) and four mood options to emphasize certain colors are available as the finishing touches for the film material.
For both video recording and photography, a "Creative Look" can also be selected from ten presets: Standard (ST), Portrait (PT), Neutral (NT), Vivid (VV), Vivid 2 (VV2), Film (FL), Instant (IN), Soft Highkey (SH), Black & White (BW) and Sepia (SE). The looks can be further customized and edited with eight different parameters to achieve exactly the desired result. Six personal styles can be saved directly in the camera for easy reuse later.
For those wondering what gives this camera its specific "vlogging" factor - it&s precisely those features that enable shortcuts to "professional-looking content", such as the product presentation mode with automatic focus shifts, which was already available on the predecessor, simple blur effects for the background or the new "Creative Looks".
The 292g interchangeable lens camera with Sony E-mount offers electronic image stabilization. Active mode works with gyro sensors and an advanced algorithm to measure and compensate for camera shake, although the image is also slightly cropped. Due to the new battery, the side grip protrudes approx. 1 cm further than on the E10.
In addition to the ZV-E10 II, the new APS-C power zoom lens E PZ 16-50MM F3.5-5.6 OSS II will be released, which will be available both separately and as a kit with the ZV-E10 II. According to Sony, the updated kit lens features improved autofocus and video performance compared to its predecessor and also weighs slightly less.
Pricing and availability: The ZV-E10 II will be launched at the end of July and will cost €1,099 (body-only), while the E PZ 16-50MM F3.5-5.6 OSS II will be available for €330.
