Mainly for the 8K-capable Canon DSLMs EOS R5 Mark II and R5, a new fan module is now also available from SmallRig; among others, there are already similar solutions from Tilta. The module is attached to the rear of the camera body, which is why the display must be folded out. In return, the possible recording times should be significantly extended - by approx. 30% at an ambient temperature of 40 °C and the highest possible resolution (8Kp30), and by approx. 65% in 4Kp60 mode. According to SmallRig, overheating should practically no longer occur at 4K at 25 °C.
The fan offers two power levels: At 4500 RPM it should work quietly, the turbo mode with 7000 RPM cools more efficiently, but obviously also louder. External power must be supplied via USB-C.
The installation should be very simple: The element is simply attached. If the outer frame of the module is removed, it should also be compatible with various Sony Alpha models.
The SmallRig cooling fan for Canon EOS R5 Mark II & R5 is available now and costs 67.90 euros.
