Many independent media workers and small businesses are worried about their existence due to the corona crisis. In the meantime, however, more and more emergency aid measures are also being initiated at local level. The most recent example is Berlin: Following the Emergency Aid I package, the Berlin Senate has just adopted the Emergency Aid II package, which is explicitly aimed at self-employed individuals and small businesses, which is likely to include many media workers in Berlin. ;)
A total of EUR 100 million is available for Emergency Aid II, which can be increased to EUR 300 million. The Emergency Aid Programmes I and II for Berlin thus reach a total volume of EUR 600 million. "Emergency Aid II is aimed at small and micro enterprises with a maximum of five employees, as well as freelancers and self-employed persons, which were particularly hard hit by the Corona crisis, especially in the areas of health, gender equality, trade and services, youth and education, creative industries, culture, social affairs, sports and tourism. The grant will be paid in the amount of 5,000 euros and it should be possible to apply for it several times if necessary. "To ensure that the funds are used as efficiently as possible and in a way that is appropriate to the target group, the following conditions should be met: - It must be demonstrated or credibly demonstrated in each individual case that a grant is necessary to secure the professional or operational existence in the corona crisis; - In the context of the application, it should be declared that federal aid programmes or other available aid programmes or claims from social security and other statutory benefits (e.g. short-time working allowance, basic income support) are being used or applied for; - Overcompensation or double compensation through the use of funds from other measures or programmes should be avoided from the outset or corrected afterwards. The subsidy therefore also assumes the function of liquidity support until other claims are clarified and claimed; - The amount of the grant is limited to EUR 5,000.
