DJI Mavic Mini: App upgrades tracking and other functions

The latest version of the flight controller app Litchi (iOS 2.9.1/Android 4.18.0) now also brings smart features to the DJI Mavic Mini drone, such as a tracking mode, which are not on board by default because DJI reserves them for its higher-priced drones. Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) is also new in photo capture mode.

Litchi allows for other flight modes besides tracking mode, in which the drone follows an object selected via app, such as a panorama, follow, orbit, VR and focus mode - a waypoint mode is expected to be added in the next update in 2021.

Tracking via Litchi

Litchi was the first app that allowed planning drone flights via app along waypoints on the (macOS/Windows) PC. It is currently compatible with almost all DJI drones: Mavic Mini 1, Mavic 2 Zoom/Pro, Mavic Air/Pro, Phantom 4 (all versions), Phantom 3 (all versions), Inspire 1 (all versions), Inspire 2 as well as Spark.

Exceptions are the latest models Mavic Air 2 and

Mini 2, for which DJI is yet to release (2021) an SDK, which is the prerequisite for support via Litchi (or another third-party program). The Mini 2 would thus be extended, for example, by a panorama function, which it does not have so far.

Litchi and enables the supported models to have the above mentioned flight modes as well as other features like live streaming to Facebook, flight logs, automatic stitching of panoramic shots or spoken warnings.
