Alongside the new Osmo 360 panoramic camera, DJI will also be introducing a new version of its DJI Mic wireless microphone system. A major innovation: the Mic 3 will resemble the compact Mic Mini in terms of design rather than the Mic 2. This is an understandable step, as a small and therefore less visible clip-on microphone is always desirable.

The DJI Mic 3 is expected to weigh only 11.7 grams and measure 14 mm x 28 mm x 29 mm, making it even slightly smaller and lighter than the DJI Mic Mini, which measures 15.96 x 26.55 x 26.06 mm and weighs 10 grams.
Unfortunately, there are no specifications for the DJI Mic 3 yet, but there are some images - and we do know that it will be unveiled on July 29, 2025, along with the Osmo 360.

What is clear is that the new Mic 3 will not lag behind the functionality of the Mic 2/Mic Mini, but will rather improve upon it. We can therefore expect at least omnidirectional recording in 32-bit float on an 8 GB internal memory of the transmitters, as well as optional backup recording of a second track alongside the primary audio track with a level of -6 dB to avoid unexpected level peaks.

We can also assume a two-channel recording function, with which audio from two sources can be recorded simultaneously, a receiver with OLED touchscreen as well as intelligent noise cancelling. The maximum audio transmission range should also be at least 250 meters in open, interference-free environments, as with the Mic 2.

Ideally, the Mic 3 will offer all these functions of the Mic 2 in the compact housing of the Mic Mini - at a price that is more oriented towards the Mini than the Mic 2, i.e. more like 169 euros for the set of two transmitters, a receiver plus charging case than 249 euros. However, the Mic Mini is currently discounted by 43 euros, which already indicates a model update.
