DJI Mini 5 Pro arrives in 5 weeks - with 50 min flight time and LiDAR

If the new rumors are true, the new DJI Mini 5 Pro will launch in just 5 weeks. Thanks to numerous leaks, we now have some information about the improvements and also more pictures. It is clear that DJI is upgrading numerous components of its now 2-year-old Mini 4 Pro - without exceeding the important weight limit of 250 grams to the next drone class. Not only the camera will be improved, but also the video transmission, the flight time and the obstacle detection.

What are the improvements of DJI&s top mini drone?
Larger Camera Sensor?
The camera of the Mini 5 Pro is said to have a significantly larger sensor than the previous model, with talk of a 1-inch sensor instead of the previous 1/1.3 inch. This would bring advantages especially in low-light performance and thus also lower noise or a higher resolution. However, there are also strong doubts about this information - so let&s wait and see if the larger sensor is really confirmed.
Longer Flight Time and Greater Range
The battery has undergone a major upgrade. It has been increased from 2,590 mAh to now 4,680 mAh, enabling a significantly longer flight time and range than before. The new Mini 5 Pro is said to be able to stay in the air for a full 50 minutes instead of just 34 minutes before. Thanks to the new 65W charger as a replacement for the old 30W version, the charging time should fortunately decrease. Interestingly, the Mini 5 Pro is said to weigh less than 250g despite the larger battery.

Analogous to the flight range, the range of the radio transmission is also said to have been extended. The upgrade to the current transmission technology Ocusync O4+, which the Mavic 4 Pro has already received, is said to bring up to 25 km range (i.e. 5 kilometers more than the Mini 4 Pro).
Better Obstacle Detection
DJI has also given the obstacle detection system a major upgrade. The Mini 5 Pro, like the new Mavic 4 Pro and before that the DJI Air 3, now also seems to be equipped with LiDAR, which would be particularly helpful to avoid collisions in poor lighting conditions.
The design has been slightly changed (at least the pictures of the prototype seem to indicate this) to accommodate the two new LiDAR sensors on the front - clearly visible in the following photo (the camera still seems to be a prototype):

In addition, the motors now seem to be larger and, above all, ventilated. This would have the advantage of better cooling and could lead to better flight performance such as a higher flight speed or longer battery life.
So we are eagerly awaiting August 7th, which was announced by the well-known leaker Jasper Ellens as the release date of the new Mini 5 Pro. His source has never been wrong. Until then, we will hopefully see even higher quality pictures of the Mini 5 Pro and confirmation about the scope of the new features.
