According to a new leak, DJI will soon introduce not only the inexpensive FPV goggles Goggles N3 but also a matching O4 Air Unit, which allows the use of the new goggles together with drones other than those from DJI. The DJI O4 Air Unit, like the O3 Air Unit, is a compact, lightweight FPV camera and transmission module system, consisting of a camera, the transmission module, and now an omnidirectional antenna with two transmitters and two receivers. It can be used by hobbyists in their custom-built FPV drones.

According to rumors, the new DJI Air Unit O4 will be released in two versions, a Standard and a Pro (K2?) version. The integrated camera has been improved compared to the previous model and now uses a 1/1.3" sensor with an aperture of f2.0 (instead of the 1/1.7" f2.8 of the O3 system), making it even more usable in challenging lighting conditions. Additionally, the Air Unit O4 system is said to feature improved cooling to avoid overheating issues during extended use.

Further improvements are expected to include a dual-antenna system for better video transmission and new mounting points for additional attachment options (20 x 20 mm). Other technical details are still unknown, but it can be assumed that it will be an upgrade over the Air Unit O3. This means it will at least be capable of recording up to 4K/60fps video on its large internal storage (O3: 20 GB) or an SD card, while simultaneously sending a 1080p/100fps live feed in H.265 compressed at a maximum bitrate of 50 Mbps. Since the N3 Goggles now support 60 Mbps, we assume that the O4 Air Unit will also utilize this increased bitrate for better live images.
The new O4 Air Unit will likely be introduced together with the Goggles N3 in the first week of November.
