DJI has announced that in order to increase flight safety from 2020, every new drone weighing over 250g will be equipped with a system that can warn the pilot if he gets too close to an aircraft (or helicopter). The sensor of DJI's AirSense system uses the ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) signal emitted by all aircraft to detect the positions and relative distances of all aircraft in the vicinity. If one is in the vicinity, the pilot is warned if necessary.
DJI's AirSense system is already integrated into the larger drones such as the
DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise or the Matrice 200 - but was previously limited to these higher-priced models. In the DJI Pilot App, pilots can see a real-time overview of the surrounding airspace, including all aircraft in the vicinity, on their mobile device.

AirSense in action
The 250g limit would mean that all current models such as the drones, the Spark and the various Mavic, Phantom and Inspire models would be equipped with the AirSense warning system in the future. However, they will not be equipped with ADS-B transmitters, only passive sensors. Since pilots are only warned when approaching aircraft, it is up to them to take appropriate steps to avoid them - malicious actions are not prevented.

DJI Mavic Enterprise with AirSense
DJI sets the start date for the universal equipment of its drones with AirSense probably on 2020, since starting from 1 January 2020 the American aviation authority FAA
all airplanes obligated, by
ADS-B transmitters continuously their position and other flight data, like for instance flight number, airplane type, time stamp, speed, flight height and planned flight direction undirected on the frequency 1090 MHz to announce.
