DVD Compatibility Test

In an extensive test of the National Institute of Standards and Technology in cooperation with the DVD association has been tested for compatibility of 14 DVD-ROM player in combination with more than 50 recordable discs from different manufacturers and different types. The result was rather unsatisfactory: there is only a 85% probability that a recorded DVD will work on a specific DVD player, that is, when recording is on 10 DVDs from different manufacturers will make it likely that at least one is only incorrect playable (frozen picture, image - or audio dropouts).
