Chinese lens manufacturer DZOFilm presents a new line of anamorphic cine lenses, Pavo. It consists of 6 lenses (28mm, 32mm, 40mm, 55mm, 75mm | T2.1 and 100mm | T2.4) and is calculated for a Super35 image circle. However, with the help of DZOFilm&s Marlin Expander, they can also be used on full-frame cameras. ;) DZOFilm PAVO, anamorphic cine series The PAVO lenses feature a 2x compression factor and are available with two different coatings (neutral or blue coating). Accordingly, the light reflections turn out neutral or rather cool. The aperture consists of 16 blades, except for the 28mm, where there are 14. ;)
Weighing between 1.2 to 1.6 kg and with a front diameter of 95mm, the PAVO cine anamorphics are well portable and also suitable for drone and Steadicam shooting. However, they are not exactly uniform in construction, with build lengths of 106.3mm / 105.7mm / 107.6mm / 108.4mm / 126.9mm / 143.1mm.  The focus path is 270°, which is slightly shorter than generally typical for cinemas, and the minimum focusing limits are between 0.4m-0.95m depending on the focal length. The lenses have an integrated flange focal length adjustment, which allows precise adaptation to different cameras or connections. Focus breathing is said to be negligible, and chromatic aberrations few.
