DZOfilm is now offering its ambitious Arles cine lens series in a "vintage" version. The lenses in the new "Arles Lustre" series are equipped with a special coating that creates "expressive," amber-yellow flares, which in turn are intended to be controlled by a modified optical design. According to the manufacturer, this results in warmer images with more texture and softer contrasts.

The lenses are also designed to deliver consistent sharpness to the edge of the image even at maximum aperture and meet the requirements of high-resolution 12K cinematography. A 46.5mm image circle (Vista Vision) is still covered. Lustre includes exactly the same 10 prime lenses as Arles (14/21/25/35/40/50/75/100/135/180mm), but their light intensity is slightly lower than that of the original lenses. Except for the 14mm and 135mm with a T2.2 and the 180mm with T2.8, the lenses offer a T1.6. The aperture consists of 16 blades.
The 14mm, 21mm and 25mm lenses each have two aspherical elements that precisely correct spherical aberrations and coma, eliminate onion ring bokeh artifacts and minimize wide-angle distortion and astigmatism. The lenses weigh between 1490 and 1846 g. They have a consistent front diameter of 95mm, an M86 filter thread and uniformly positioned lens rings including 0.8 MOD gears.
The Arles Lustre series also comes standard with a native PL mount; EF and LPL mount kits are optionally available.
As it seems, DZOfilm is relying on scarcity in the marketing of the Arles Lustre series, because the complete set with 10 focal lengths (14 to 180mm) should only be available 100x in a "Limited Edition"; it costs about 29,750 euros. In addition, there are 50 lenses available individually for purchase (only 25/35/50/75mm, each about 3,307 euros).
