Chinese manufacturer Desview has introduced a new 5.5" monitor recorder that connects to DSLRs or other cameras and can display and record video live as well as play it back. A special feature of the Desview V5 5.5" is its up to 2,800 nits bright touchscreen display, which can also be used in daylight due to its high luminance. Otherwise, the Desview&s IPS panel with 10-bit color depth offers a FullHD resolution of 1,920 × 1,080, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a viewing angle of 178°, and covers 99.5% of the professional DCI-P3 color space. ![]()
The video signal fed in via HDMI port can be up to UHD/DCI 4K with up to 25 fps - however, only 1080p video is recorded (as .MP4 on an SD card) and shown on the display. The input signal can also be output unchanged via the HDMI output - for example to a video radio link. The Desview V5 5.5" is operated via its touchscreen as well as several buttons. It features some of the most common image monitoring tools, such as false color, histogram, vectoroscope, focus picking, zebra, raster lines, and anamorphic de-squeeze. Custom 3D LUTs can be applied to the monitor image - up to 150 custom LUTs can be stored on the Desview V5. ![]() On the back of the Desview V5 is a plate to accept Sony NP-F batteries, and on the side is a 7-24V DC power connector. A D-tap to DC adapter cable is also included, so the monitor can alternatively be connected directly to a V-mount battery. The Desview V5 unit features an all-aluminum enclosure that has 1/4″-20 threaded mount points on both the bottom and right side of the screen. ![]() Priced at , the Desview V5 5.5" monitor-recorder is available now and includes a cold-shoe mount, HDMI cable, micro-HDMI cable, D-Tap power cable, and SD card, among other accessories.
