EIZO ColorEdge Prominence CG1: New HDR reference monitor with uncompressed 12-bit 4K via HDMI

At NAB 2024, EIZO will showcase for the first time its new 30.5" HDR reference monitor, the ColorEdge Prominence CG1, aimed specifically at professional applications like final mastering and color grading, as well as the live production of HDR content in the film and broadcast industry. The successor to the ColorEdge Prominence CG3146 released 3 years ago retains its visual features such as 1,000 nits of maximum brightness, a maximum contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and the 4K DCI resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels, as well as characteristics like the integrated sensor for color calibration - but it also adds numerous new features and functions.

SMPTE ST 2110 and Uncompressed 12-Bit 4K via HDMI A new feature is the support of the SMPTE ST 2110 standard, which enables the transmission of uncompressed video, audio, and metadata over IP networks, as well as the capability to transmit uncompressed 12-bit 4K video data via HDMI using Fixed Rate Link (FRL) technology.
Integrated Color Calibration Sensor The integrated color calibration sensor of the EIZO ColorEdge Prominence CG1, in conjunction with the ColorNavigator color management software, allows users to quickly, easily, and losslessly make settings, perform regular quality control, and recalibrate directly in the monitor&s LUT themselves or even automate the process. Thus, color management settings for different projects can be set up and calibrated in parallel.

Interfaces Although EIZO has not yet made specific statements about the CG1&s interfaces, it is expected that the specifications will not be lower than those of the similar previous model. The interfaces of the Eizo ColorEdge CG3146 include BNC (12G/6G/3G/HD-SDI), 3 x BNC (3G/HD-SDI), a DisplayPort, and an HDMI input, as well as loop-through outputs for all BNC ports. It also offers a USB 3.1 Gen1 hub with three ports. The HDMI and DisplayPort inputs of the monitor support DCI 4K at 60p, the HDMI input supports 12-bit 4:2:2 at 50/60p, and the DisplayPort input up to 10-bit 4:4:4 at 50/60p.
The ColorEdge Prominence CG1 is expected to ship by the end of 2024 - the price has not yet been announced. For reference, its predecessor, the ColorEdge Prominence CG3146, costs around 33,000 euros.
