Eizo&s new 27-inch monitor top model, the ColorEdge CG279X, is aimed entirely at professional users: it features an integrated color calibration sensor and, thanks to its true 10-bit WQHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) IPS Wide Gamut panels, it covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space and 99% of the Adobe RGB color space - sRGB and Rec709 100%. Its brightness is slightly above average at 350 nits - the viewing angle is standard at 178° horizontally and vertically.
It also features a 3D LUT, factory pre-installed presets for HLG and PQ gamma curves, and broadcast and film presets for BT.2020, BT.709, DCI, PQ_DCI, PQ_BT.2100 and HLG_BT.2100. Thanks to its true black panel, it can produce rich blacks even when viewed from the side and achieves a contrast of 1,300:1.
The ColorEdge CG279X is pre-calibrated at the factory and, unlike the previous version, allows you to continue working on non-critical color projects during a recalibration, which can also be carried out automatically according to plan on a regular basis. A special control algorithm, which also takes environmental factors such as the ambient and internal temperature of the monitor into account, ensures a constant color display after just three minutes.
It is the first monitor from the Eizos ColorEdge series to have a USB-C input, in addition to a DisplayPort, a DVI-D, an HDMI and four USB Downteam ports (2 x USB 3.1 Gen1 and 2x USB 2.0). The other improvements concern the size: the case depth of the new model has been reduced by 20% and the bezel by 46%. Its functions include Safe Area Markers, Luminance Warning in PQ mode (optional when exceeding (300, 500, 1000 or 4000 cd/m2) and Gamut Warning. With the help of its adjustable foot it can be adjusted 155mm in height, 35° to the rear, 5° to the front, as well as turned by 172° or set upright.
The Eizo ColorEdge CG279X will be available in stores from December at a price of around 2,200 euros - including a light protection hood to minimize reflective ambient light.
ColorNavigator 7 In parallel, Eizo has introduced a new version of its color calibration software ColorNavigator 7 for Mac OS, Windows and Linux. The new version combines the functions of the previous programs ColorNavigator 6 and ColorNavigator NX and replaces them. It not only works with the integrated color calibration sensors from Eizo, but also with a large number of sensors from other manufacturers.
Calibrate multiple color modes
With the new software, it is now possible to calibrate all color presets simultaneously. In addition, ColorNavigator 7 now allows large installations with many ColorEdge monitors to be centrally administered. The ColorNavigator 7 calibration software can be downloaded free of charge from the EIZO website on November 2, 2018. more infos at bei www.eizo.de
