![]() OCTOPUS16 CAMERA now with S16 sensor for 1000 dollars As the name suggests, it is no longer full format, but is now moving towards a Super16 sensor - which the camera reads out with real 16 bits in 4K and can write away internally as CinemaDNG on a CFexpress type B card. The current prototype is very small and lightweight (80 x 80 x 50mm, under 400 grams) and has a built-in LCD screen with touchscreen control. Currently, the camera needs to be powered by a USB-C power bank, but there are plans to support Sony NP-F batteries at some point. ![]() OCTOPUS16 CAMERA now with S16 sensor for 1000 dollars The interchangeable lens mount supports MFT lenses with the help of an adapter, but the native mount is a simple CS mount - which is why MFT support will probably only be passive/mechanical. The operating system is said to be based on Linux, providing a nice playground for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the camera&s functionality. The camera is expected to cost less than 1,000 dollars when it is finished. Compared to a Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, this doesn&t necessarily seem like a real bargain. However, when buying an OCTOPUS16, there are probably other interests in the foreground than getting the cheapest possible camera.
