A few days ago we stumbled upon the beta version of a face modeler for Nuke. With the FaceBuilder it is amazingly quick and easy to create and texture a 3D model of a human head based on photos. A short
report on the net shows how easy it is to get from a real film shot to a 3D object.
The tool (currently in beta) is part of the Keen Tools plug-in suite. It also includes GeoTracker (a model-based object and camera tracking plugin) as well as PinTool (to place 3D models in real images) and ReadRiggedGeo (to create skeleton-based animations). To get an overview of the possibilities of the tools, you can click through the videos of the homepage. One of the demo videos shows the interaction of some tools:
The suite costs and a 15-day trial version is available with additional information from Keen Tools' website.
