The mobile camera app FiLMiC Pro, which also offers some more professional features, has only been available in a subscription model for some time now. The change makes it much more expensive to use for new customers - instead of the former purchase price of 14.99 dollars, 2.99 or even 4.99 dollars per week are currently required (which price applies when is somewhat unclear). ![]() So FiLMiC suddenly costs at least 150 dollars (or at 4.99 per week almost 260 dollars) per year. The Cinematographer Kit isn&t even included in this price, but continues to cost extra (as do some other add-ons).
Those who have already purchased the app can of course continue to use it, but it seems that they will no longer receive updates. Whether the old version can be reinstalled when moving to a new smartphone is questionable - the communication around the new subscription model is quite sparse; there is no indication at all on the FiLMiC website. According to a statement from FiLMiC, the subscription prices might change in the future - "we hope to arrive at the right pricing model soon but we are not there yet. Expect more tests and pricing options in the weeks and months ahead" it says on its Facebook page. The new pricing comes after FiLMiC was acquired by Bending Spoons in July. The Italian company develops apps and also has its own video editing app, Splice, in its (subscription) offering. ![]() ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: FiLMiC Pro nur noch im Abo: mobile Kamera-App kostet jetzt mind. 150 Dollar im Jahr - 1.000% Teuerung |
