The latest iPhones are known to support 4K video recording with Dolby Vision 10-bit HDR. However, the camera app integrated by Apple is not suitable for scenic work, as it offers hardly any access to relevant parameters. Another, more professional world can be entered via special camera apps for filmmakers. But these had not yet announced support for Dolby Vision 10-bit HDR.
This has now changed with the latest version FiLMiC Pro (v6.12.7) for Apple's 12 series mobile devices. The option to activate Dolby Vision can be found in the menu "Settings"> "Resolution". By scrolling down a little there. the Dolby Vision switch can be activated, which should also produce a 10 bit recording. This also limits the recording to a maximum of 30 fps in 4K and 60 fps in 1080p.
By the way, we already have a new iPhone in our editorial office and will soon be able to present you with some interesting test results...
