Nikon has now officially announced the MC-N10 remote control handle for its Z cameras. It can be used to remotely control mirrorless Nikon cameras with Z bayonet via a USB-C cable connection, which is especially handy for filming applications - such as in the gimbal - and also allows for more ergonomic work (à la ENG).

According to Nikon, all essential video settings can be accessed via the handle. This also applies to functions that are normally operated via the buttons on the back of the camera and settings that have been assigned to setting wheels or function keys (Fn), as these can also be found on the handle.
With AA batteries inserted, the grip weighs about 310g. One battery set should be sufficient for 12 hours of operation. The ARRI standard rosette ensures a quick change of the mounting position.
The MC-N10 remote control handle is expected to be available in stores from early December 2022, but with a price of EUR 499.00 it is not for casual filmmakers. Rather, it is part of Nikon's stated strategy to make the
Z cameras more attractive to the ambitious and professional film scene.
At launch, the grip is compatible with the Z 9, Z 7II and Z 6II; for use on the Z 9, the grip's firmware will need to be updated.
