Formula 1 has installed a new on-board camera in its vehicles especially for the Zandvoort race track in the Netherlands - the new gyro camera films a POV perspective from the cockpit as usual, but the image orientation is not fixed as usual, but a gyroscopic stabilization makes it possible to influence the inclination of the horizon.
When the cars speed through the steep bends at Zandvoort, as they did last weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix, the gyro cam moves slightly in the opposite direction so that the image does not tilt completely - this emphasizes the inclination of the cars. The degree to which the tilt angle of the image is corrected can be adjusted for each curve live in the Forme1-1 broadcast studio, where the image streams from all the cameras are coordinated and processed.
How exactly the stabilization is carried out is not described exactly - it is not a camera on a gimbal, but "it´s all done electronically, so the sensor is much bigger than the lens and so it moves around the sensor, as opposed to moving physically" 
Autosport magazine quotes Steve Smith, the head of onboard cameras in Formula 1. According to Smith, the camera comes from Sony; it may therefore be a modified IBIS version in which the lens moves (“it moves around the sensor”), or a purely electronic calculation via sensor data (“all done electronically ... as opposed to moving physically”).

In future, images from the gyro cam, the concept of which has been adopted from motorcycle racing but technically revised for the requirements of Formula 1, will also be shown on other circuits.
The positions from which the on-board cameras in the F1 cars film are shown in this clip - in addition to the gyro camera (discussed but unfortunately not shown from approx. 5:10), there is now also a 360° camera. Their panoramic views cannot (yet) be broadcast live, but quite spectacular tracking shots can be extracted from them afterwards, for example of overtaking maneuvers.
