Fotodiox has introduced an interesting new Fusion Cine Edition lens adapter for L-mount and RF-mount cameras, designed to adapt Canon EF and EF/S lenses with a whole range of additional "cine" functions. The new adapters are called Vizelex ND Throttle Fusion Smart AF Cine Edition Lens Adapters and are available in both a Vario-ND version and a slightly cheaper adapter-only version.
Fotodiox points out that the Fusion Cine adapters allow a particularly firm, play-free - and thus "cine-like" - mounting of EF/EF-S lenses, because in addition to the EF bayonet, a so-called Breech-Lock mechanism (known as EF Cinema Lock mechanism by Canon) has been built into the adapter. This means that the EF lens does not lock into the adapter at a specific position, but is tightened via a lock ring as desired (similar to PL mounts). ;) This should ensure that the respective Canon EF,EF/S lens sits firmly on the Fusion Cine adapter (however, the side facing the camera does not have a corresponding locking mechanism - but the Fusion Cine adapters are equipped with a removable lens support, which should reduce flex on the camera side). ;) Furthermore, the new Fusion Cine Adpaters are supposed to be "smart", which means that appropriate interfaces are available for the transmission of lens control data (which can also be updated via USB).
