Fujifilm GFX Eterna: Sensor, codecs and modes of the new cinema camera

This year, Fujifilm&s first large format cine camera, the GFX Eterna, is expected to be released, of which only a few specifications have been known so far. Now, further concrete functions have been announced in the run-up to Cinegear.
The camera sensor will be equipped with an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) to reduce moiré and color aberrations. The built-in 5.0-inch touchscreen color LC display is said to offer a brightness of maximum 2,000 nits and a FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080). The smaller 3.0-inch touchscreen color LC display is said to have a resolution of 720 x 480 pixels at a maximum of 700 nits.
All available formats should already be fixed for internal codecs. These are:
Apple ProRes Proxy, 422, 422 HQ and 422 LT with Linear PCM Stereo Audio (24-bit / 48 kHz) HEVC/H.265 Proxy or 4:2:2 10 Bit, Linear PCM (24-bit / 48 kHz)
External recording in 4:2:2, 10 bit or 12 bit RAW should also be possible via HDMI.
The GFX ETERNA sensor (43.8 x 32.9 mm) will offer various recording formats. In Open Gate with up to 48 fps, a 4:3 sensor area of 43.6 x 32.7 mm is read out. However, this mode can only be saved in 4K with 3840 x 2880 pixels, which could possibly indicate line skipping above 30 fps. "Real" 8K recording with 8192/7680 x 4320 pixels, on the other hand, is only available with 24-30 fps. Another striking feature is a Cine 5.8K mode, which can be recorded as a 2.39:1 format with 5824x2436 up to 30p. Since it also uses the full sensor width (43.8 x 18.3mm), this mode should also be achieved by downscaling. Also noteworthy are the two executed anamorphic modes (8K 2x, 4.6K), which use a sensor area of 30.4 x 25.4 mm.
In fact, it turns out (as we already suspected in advance) that Fujifilm basically offers many possibilities to market the Eterna also as a multi-aspect sensor camera. Thus, the camera can record numerous formats for different image circles, because many of the shown modes have a much smaller image circle than typical GFX lenses.
However, the most exciting question remains open: With which rolling shutter times do the different modes operate?
Further fresh information concerns the integration of 20 FUJI film simulations, the support of 3D LUTs, custom frame lines in the preview, as well as the remote control of multiple cameras via an app and the support for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
However, it remains open until when the GFX Eterna will be available exactly (as well as a price).
