Fujifilm has added many interesting features to the GFX100 mirrorless medium-format camera presented today. For example, the standard 17:9 format uses a 43.8 × 23.19 mm (49.56 mm diagonal) sensor cutout, i.e. the entire width of the newly developed, rear-exposed (BSI) 102MP medium format sensor is used. Oversampling is used for this. Video recordings are possible in Cinema 4K (4096x2160) with up to 30p and 400Mbps, internally with 10bit 4:2:0, externally with 10bit 4:2:2.
A new 5-axis image stabilization system (IBIS) is integrated to minimize blurring. F-Log for a gamma curve with large dynamic range and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) for easy creation of HDR images are on board, the H.265/HEVC codec is also supported. The GFX100 is also the first camera in the GFX series to feature the Cinema Film Simulation "ETERNA". Helpful functions include a Zebra setting aid and timecode.
The autofocus should work much faster than with the GFX50S. A phase detection AF is used, including an algorithm taken from the fourth generation of the X series cameras (X-T3 and X-T30). The algorithm uses 3.76 million phase detection pixels distributed over the entire sensor area (coverage approx. 100%).
The electronic viewfinder of the GFX100 features a high-resolution OLED display with 5.76 million pixels. Designed specifically for the 102 megapixel sensor, the viewfinder features five optical elements, including an aspherical lens that magnifies the viewfinder image 0.86 times. The rear 8.1 cm (3.2 inch) LC touch screen displays a high-resolution preview image with over 2.36 million pixels and can be rotated in three directions. In addition, setting parameters can be read on two small info displays.
Despite its larger sensor, which offers approx. 1.7 times the area of a full-size sensor, the GFX100's housing is on a par with a professional DSLR. It measures 156.2 × 163.6 × 102.9mm at a weight of 1.4Kg -- a lens is of course added (G-Mount). A 3.5mm mini jack input is available. The GFX100 can hold two batteries (NP-T125), but can also be powered via USB-C. The GFX100 can also be used with a USB-C power supply.
The Fujifilm GFX100 should be available from the end of June for 10.999 Euro.
