Fujifilm presents two new lenses and X series roadmap incl. ultra fast 33mm F1.0 AF lens

Interesting announcement from Fujifilm. The Japanese manufacturer has just updated its X Series lens roadmap, which extends into the year 2020. Three new lenses will be added to this Fujifilm lineup.

According to Fujifilm, the XF 33mm F1 R WR is (currently) the world´s first auto-focus lens for mirrorless cameras with a f1.0 max. aperture. According to the roadmap you have to be patient for the XF 33mm F1 R WR -- Fuji gives here something vaguely approx. 2020 as release date. Theoretically, the competitive situation in terms of luminous intensity could still change a little by then.

Already in 2019 the XF 16mm F2.8 R WR, which is considered as wide-angle completion of the already existing XF 23mm F2 R WR, XF 35mm F2 R WR as well as the XF 50mm F2 R WR, and as third optics in the bundle a standard zoom, the XF 16-80 mm F4 R OIS WR.

New X Series Lenses in 2018

Newly introduced for this year are the ultra wide angle zoom FUJINON XF 8-16mm F2.8 R LM WR and the professional FUJINON XF 200mm F2 R LM OIS WR. The APS-C wide-angle zoom (without optical image stabilization) offers a starting aperture F2.8 over the entire zoom range; the 8-16mm focal length is 35mm-equivalent to 12 to 24mm. Its optical design includes 20 elements in 13 groups, including four aspherical lenses, three ED elements and three super ED elements. The lens is protected against dust and moisture and weighs 805g. The FUJINON XF 8-16mm F2.8 R LM WR will be released in November for approx. 2,000 Dollars (a Euro price is pending).

FUJINON XF 8-16mm F2.8 R LM WR

The professional FUJINON XF 200mm F2 R LM OIS WR is aimed at sports and wildlife photographers. The weatherproof telephoto focal length 200mm for APS-C 35mm-equivalent to about 305mm. The inner design makes use of proven technologies from FUJINON broadcast optics in order to provide sharp images even with an open aperture. This is the first time that a focus preset function for rapid focus shift has been integrated into an interchangeable lens of the X series. It will be delivered from the end of October with the 1.4x tele-converter XF1.4X TC F2 WR for approx. 6000 dollars.
