Canon announces a series of new firmware updates that bring additional features to the EOS R5 C, EOS C70, EOS C80, EOS C300 Mark III, EOS C400, EOS C500 Mark II and the XF605.
Functional firmware updates for many Canon EOS C models and the XF605
In detail these are:
Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud for the EOS C80 and C400
The EOS C80 and EOS C400 will directly support Adobe&s Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud functionality. This allows the cameras to upload proxy files directly to a Frame.io project in the cloud via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. This enables post-processing and colour correction immediately after shooting.
6K 60p external RAW recording for the EOS C80
The EOS C80 now has an external 6K RAW recording option with up to 60p. While the EOS C80 can only record 6K RAW internally at up to 30p, the new external HDMI RAW function offers even more flexibility with compatible ATOMOS Ninja and Shogun systems.
LP-E6P battery compatibility for the EOS R5 C
Previously, the EOS R5 C camera only allowed 8K RAW recording at up to 30p internally and up to 60p when using an external power supply. With the upcoming firmware update, Canon&s new high capacity LP-E6P batteries (introduced with the EOS R5 Mark II) will allow the EOS R5 C to record 8K 60p internally without the need for an external power supply.
1.5x Anamorphic De-Squeeze for the EOS C400
Canon Cinema EOS cameras support a de-squeeze option for the 2x, 1.8x and 1.3x anamorphic lenses available on the market. With a growing range of third party 1.5x lenses, the new EOS C400 firmware now also supports 1.5x de-squeeze option - for efficient on-set control via the LCD monitor or external outputs.
Additional function details for the XF605 camcorder
After the firmware update, the professional XF605 camcorder will have a higher sensitivity for controlling the focus ring. It will also be possible to adjust the output volume using the joystick on the audio screen display.
Other items in the firmware updates include distortion correction during playback in the EOS C70 and compatibility with the latest RF lenses for the EOS R5 C, EOS C70, EOS C80 and EOS C400.
All updates are free of charge and will be available for download from December 2024.
