After the focal lengths 75mm, 35mm and 24mm, the fourth focal length of the Samyang "Cine" lens series "V-AF" now follows. The 45mm T1.9 FE is - like the entire series - optimized for video recording with Sony full-frame cameras (or cameras with Sony FE mount). Resolutions up to 8K are supported, and autofocus is also available in a way that is quite untypical for cine.

The V-AF series offers a consistent form factor across the five different focal lengths, including consistent aperture/focus ring positioning. With a compact size of 73 x 70 mm and the low weight of 280g, the lenses are thus well suited for mobile shooting, for example in gimbals (no recalibration necessary when changing optics).
The lenses are color matched to avoid color shifts when changing lenses. The aperture consists of nine blades, the focus travel is 300°. With the 45mm, the closest focusing distance is 38cm. Samyang specifies the focus breathing at 5.5% (∞ to 1m).
On the front as well as on the left side of the lens, small lights indicate if shooting is in progress. The V-AF lenses have a custom switch and a focus hold button. The assignment of the custom switch as well as firmware updates can be quickly and easily imported via the Samyang Lens Station.
The Samyang V-AF 45mm T1.9 FE for Sony E will be released in mid-June for €629. Next year, the series will be expanded to include 20mm and 100mm focal lengths.
