Grass Valley announces EDIUS 11 with KI-based functions, dedicated audio editor and more

Edius X was released about three years ago - since then, numerous updates have been released, and now the leap to version 11 has been made. The main new features are a number of AI tools that are supposed to provide assistance in various areas. Third-party AI services should also be able to be integrated. (Out of sheer AI enthusiasm, Grass Valley itself created the entire intro for its Edius 11 teaser from AI-generated image material...)
For instance, a new dedicated audio editor is included that also supports an AI-based speech-to-text workflow. AI-based speech recognition should also make it easier to remove extreme, distracting background noise from voice recordings. As it seems, the audio editor is not an in-house development, but it comes from Acon Digital (Acoustica Edius Edition).

Hand in hand with the speech recognition goes a likewise new titler, with which the so generated text can be inserted as subtitles into videos, as one knows it already from other editing programs. For the design of the subtitles, various templates are included.

A new "intelligent" color correction filter is also implemented in Edius 11, which is supposed to automatically optimize video recordings. Adjustment clips have also been introduced, which can be used to apply effects to multiple clips and entire compositions. Speaking of effects, various glitch effects have been added, as well as native OFX plugin support.

When starting a project, the settings can be automatically adjusted to the clip settings. Those producing for social media can also use new project and export settings in vertical and square formats.
Mync 11 offers enhanced content management features to sift, tag, and quickly prepare footage for editing, and is now integrated directly into EDIUS 11 via a new Mync tab.
Chorus Hub 11 server technology was developed for team collaboration. It connects multiple EDIUS 11 clients, the XRE Render Engine, Mync 11, and storage. Integration of the Hub's software development kit (SDK) enables AI analysis services such as automatic video and photo tagging, quality control (QC), and other tasks.
EDIUS 11 supports the latest PC hardware and offers improved GPU utilization, according to Grass Valley. The software will be available in several versions: EDIUS 11 Pro (standard version), EDIUS 11 Workgroup (with enhanced integration capabilities), and EDIUS 11 Broadcast (designed specifically for broadcasters). As in the past, EDU licenses and upgrades from older versions of EDIUS will also be available. Those who purchase EDIUS X between September 15 and October 31, 2023, will receive a free upgrade to EDIUS 11.
EDIUS 11, Mync 11 and Chorus Hub 11 Server will begin shipping on October 11.
