At the NAB we had the opportunity to try out the Sigma EF to L-Mount Converter MC-21 at our test Panasonic S1 at the NAB at the Sigma booth. With the Sigma MC-21Mount Converter you can adapt Canon EF lenses
to the cameras of the L-Mount Alliance to which besides Sigma also Panasonic and Leica belong.
During the first assembly of the Sigma MC-21 Mount Converter, the high manufacturing quality and the very good fit on the Panasonic S1 are noticeable. In comparison to other converters, the Sigma MC-21 has hardly any play on the S1 bayonet, which, in addition to the solid metal construction, conveys confidence. However, we had to unscrew the tripod plate of the S1 to mount the Mountconverter, because otherwise the tripod support of the converter would have been in the way. However, the tripod support can also be removed from the converter with a suitable tool (from Sigma included in delivery).
The AF functions of the Panasonic S1 in photo mode were already quite well supported during our short test at the stand. Here we had mounted the Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG ART. AF for video was still a bit buggy. According to Sigma, they are still working on the continuous AF functions for the video mode. We are very excited about the final version, which we will test on slashCAM as soon as it is available.
