Hollyland recently introduced Vcore, a small box that transmits video data from a camera to mobile devices for image preview, recording, or streaming. Solutions like this already exist, for example from Accsoon; however, Vcore&s unique feature is the option to record proxy files in H.264 onto an SD card.

Smartphone as Camera Monitor
Vcore connects to the camera via HDMI and supports real-time preview up to 4K at 30 fps via the HollyView app when the signal is sent to a mobile device via USB-C. Wireless preview on up to four additional mobile devices is also possible, then at 1080p at 60fps. The signal is transmitted via 5 GHz up to a line of sight of 100m; Hollyland specifies a latency of approximately 65 ms. Furthermore, the preview also works with Hollyland Pyro S or H receivers (in 4K 30p).

Wireless Preview on up to 4 Devices
The HollyView app can also be used to remotely start and stop camera recording. Another feature of the app is a real-time keying preview. However, no special monitoring functions for the video preview are mentioned.
When Vcore is used with an iPhone, the video from the connected camera can be recorded on the Apple phone in ProRes.
In principle, cameras from Sony, Canon, and Nikon are supported; for more details, see
compatibility list.

Proxy Recording and Streaming
The optional recording of proxy files in MP4 format (H.264 / 1080p 60fps) with embedded timecode is done on an internal SD card in Vcore. Additionally, the connected mobile device can be set to automatically start synchronous recording in MP4 format via HollyView. Vcore recognizes the camera&s frame rate and timecode, enabling seamless linking of proxy files in editing software like Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
The connection between the camera and smartphone via Vcore can also be used for streaming, either via RTMP or with an integrated SDK directly through the app, supporting platforms such as YouTube and Twitch.
Vcore also features a built-in 5150mAh battery and is capable of charging an iPhone or iPad while it serves as a camera monitor.
Price and Availability
The Hollyland Vcore mobile video transmission system supports smartphones and tablets with Android or iOS systems and costs approximately 225 Euros.
