Huawei has unveiled the Huawei MateView, a new 28.2" monitor that features 4K in a 3:2 aspect ratio, a unique format with an unusual resolution of 3,840 × 2,560 pixels (Huawei calls it 4K+) - 4K in the classic 16:9 format is 3,840 × 2,160. Contrary to the current trend towards ultra-wide formats, such as 49" monitors in 32:9 format, the MateView thus offers more vertical than horizontal space, be it for displaying websites or working with video, where there are thus 400 pixels of space in addition to a native 4K image for a timeline, for example. The 3:2 aspect ratio is otherwise not used by any monitor, but only tablets like the iPad Pro 12.9 or Huawei&s MateBook X notebook.

In addition, the MateView has a contrast ratio of 1,200:1 as well as a typical brightness of 500 nits, which together with its other performance data secures it a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. ![]() Huawei MateView Besides the format, the Huawei MateView&s range of interfaces is also unusual, which also includes WLAN, NFC, a dual microphone and Bluetooth 5.1 - inputs that are usually only supported by TVs, not classic monitors. Otherwise, traditional ports like an HDMI 2.0 (with a maximum of 50Hz), MiniDisplayPort 1.2 and USB-C are on board, as well as a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbit/s) hub with two USB Type-A ports. The external display power supply is connected to the monitor via USB-C and provides another USB-C charging port in addition to the USB-C port on the monitor (with a maximum of 65 watts charging current). Via WLAN and NFC, the screen content of some Huawei smartphones can be displayed simply by touching the phone to the base of the MateView. Notebooks or other devices can display their content on the MateView via WLAN using the Miracsat protocol. ![]() Huawei MateView A special mechanism allows the height of the monitor (up to 110mm) as well as the tilt angle (between -5° and 18°) to be changed very gently with just one finger. The Huawei MateView is available immediately at a price of around 700 euros.
