Irix introduces another wide-angle cine lens, the 21mm T1.5. In fact, except for the 150mm macro, all of the focal lengths in the cine series tend to be on the short end, as available so far are an 11mm, 15mm, 30mm, and 45mm lens (as well as the aforementioned macro). All are calculated for full frame (image circle 43.3mm), the speed varies. Together with the 30mm and 45mm, the new 21mm forms a T1.5 trio.

The optical construction of the 21mm T1.5 includes 15 elements in 11 groups, including four ED glass elements, four HFR elements, and two aspherical lenses. The minimum focusing distance is 0.3m, and the focus travel is a series-typical 180 degrees (the aperture is 75°). According to the manufacturer, there is also minimal focus breathing with this lens, and distortion is also said to be greatly reduced. The aperture again consists of 11 blades. The weight turns out to be relatively low at about 1.1Kg.
The IRIX Cine series lenses feature equally spaced lens rings with 0.8 pitch standard gears, uniform front diameters of 95mm, and 86mm filter threads. There is a magnetic mount for filters and hoods. The magnesium alloy lens body is weather sealed.
There are no surprises in terms of price either: The Irix Cine 21mm T1.5 is expected to cost 1195 euros (1295 euros the PL-mount version) and will be available in the next few weeks. Seven different lens mounts are covered: Canon RF, Canon EF, Sony E, Nikon Z, L-mount, Arri PL as well as MFT.
