The IRIX Cine lens series for full-frame is expanded - and this again at the wide-angle end. The fast 30mm T1.5 also covers an image circle of 43.3mm (diagonal) and is designed for manual operation. While the first IRIX optics served only four mount versions, Canon EF-, Sony E-, MFT- as well as PL, several have since been added. First, RF support was added, and with this one, Nikon Z as well as L-mount is also offered - the already available 11mm, 15mm, 45mm as well as the 150mm macro are now also available in the aforementioned seven mount options.
The optical design of the 30mm T1.5 has been redesigned to include 13 elements in 11 groups, including three ED glass elements, two HFR elements, and an aspherical lens. The minimum focusing distance is 34cm, and the focus travel is 180 degrees (for the aperture, it is 75°). According to the manufacturer, there is hardly any focus breathing with this lens either. The aperture consists of 11 blades.
The IRIX Cine series lenses feature equally spaced lens rings with 0.8 pitch standard gears, uniform front diameters of 95mm, and 86mm filter threads. There is a magnetic mount for filters and hoods. The magnesium alloy lens body is weather sealed, and the weight is about 1.1Kg. The lens cap has been redesigned and is now flat, so you can put the optics on the "head" as you are used to from other manufacturers.
The Irix 30mm T1.5 is expected to cost 1195 euros (1295 euros the PL mount version) and will be available in the next few weeks.
