JVC presents a classic 3-chip broadcast shoulder camcorder with 2/3" CMOS sensors for FullHD recording in Las Vegas, but with enhanced streaming functionalities for the News-over-IP workflow. A new communication engine is integrated, which is intended to optimize both image processing and IP performance. In addition to regular recording, this enables simultaneous streaming as well as reception or decoding of incoming video and IFB signatures. The latency should be very low in both directions, under optimal conditions approx. 500ms. However, an optional ProHD bridge is required for the Internet connection; a WLAN module is included in the camera (2.4Ghz/5GHz), so that the bridge does not necessarily have to be docked.
The GY-HC900 draws FullHD either in transmit-compliant MPEG-2 at up to 35 Mbps or in H.264 (.MOV / 10 bit, 1080/60p 4:2:2:2). HDR, proxy recording and Sports Exchange standard formats are also supported. Slow motion can be recorded up to 120p.
The camera is equipped with a standard B4 lens mount, a four-stage ND filter, dual SDHC/SDXC card slot, 3.26" OLEDcolor Viewfinder, 3.5" LCD, genlock input, timecode in/out, dual 3G-SDI outputs, HDMI output, three XLR audio inputs, Ethernet and USB ports, a slot for a wireless audio module. The functions of the HC900 can be accessed via web browser or the optional JVC RM-LP100 Remote.
From June the GY-HC900 CONNECTED CAM will be available for ,500 including 20x optics or as body-only version (GY-HC900CH) for ,950.
