Kenko: ND-Ffilter for DJI Mavic Air and Phantom 4 drones

Drones sometimes have the problem that in strong sunlight a large aperture or low exposure time must be used to avoid overexposure of the images. But this leads to seemingly choppy movements and an unnaturally high sharpness. In addition, high aperture values can lead to unwanted light reflections and ghosting in the image as well as diffraction effects, which reduce the overall resolution (especially with 4K images).

Kenkos new ND filter sets for the widely used drone models DJI Mavic Air and DJI Phantom 4 Pro/Advanced promise a remedy. The sets reduce the incidence of light and thus enable exposure times and apertures that enable better-looking images. With an ND16 filter, for example, an exposure time of 1/160s can be used instead of an exposure time of 1/3,200s or an aperture of f/4.5 instead of an aperture of f/11.

Kenko ND Drone Filter Set

The sets include four ND filters (ND4, ND8, ND16 and ND32) made of glass and aluminium with black frames for the respective drone cameras and are supplied in a practical case. The filters are attached to the camera by a screw thread and reduce the incidence of light by 2,3,4 respectively 5 f-stops. The use of high-quality glass prevents colour shift. The filters also prevent contamination by infrared light.

The Kenko Drone Filter Kit Mavic AIR is now available in stores, the Kenko Drone Filter Kit Phantom 4 will be available from the end of August - both cost about 150 Euro each.
