Kwai presents AI video generator KLING - direct competition for Sora?

When OpenAI presented its AI video model Sora three months ago, it was clear to and not just to us that this new, high-quality form of AI video generation would mean a huge upheaval in many areas.

However, it feels like surprisingly little has happened since then. On the one hand, this is of course due to the fact that OpenAI has still not released its Sora model for widespread use. Previously, however, the AI sensation rhythm also pulsated on a weekly basis, so that people sometimes no longer even knew which projects to focus their AI hype attention on.

And now that the AI pulse has returned to a healthy level, two previously unheard terms have reached us: Kwai and KLING.

Kwai is a Chinese company whose LLM team has introduced a new video AI generation model called KLING, which apparently has a similar generation quality to Sora. The published sample clips certainly look amazing:

A second clip from the net shows much more sophisticated examples, but the quality is somewhat inferior to the official ‘cherry picks’ from the first video:

According to Kwai, KLING can be used to create 120-second videos with a resolution of 1080p at 30 FPS, which is a new record in terms of length.

However, it is unclear how quickly open access to KLING will be available. What is clear, however, is that Kwai is competing with Sora for the current SOTA (State-Of-The-Art) crown. Google recently announced

with Veo also wanting to have a say here. The end of the AI video flagpole is certainly far from being reached.
