Large Format cine-cameras: RED Monstro 8K VV and ARRI Alexa LF 4.5K comparison

Large format is on everyone´s lips. How the two top dogs RED Monstro 8K VV and ARRI Alexa LF 4.5K perform in direct comparison with each other in terms of skin tones, low light, dynamics etc. is shown by a new test clip from Phil Holland. He lets the cameras compete against each other in their respective maximum resolution, was shot in the best possible quality (8K REDCODE RAW 5:1 or 4.5K ARRIRAW Open Gate).

The material was played in 4K DCI. As always, YouTube clips for a serious pixel-peeping should be taken with caution; for a subjective image impression, it´s always a good idea to keep in mind that the footage from these cameras is of course very good for grading, so it can be largely adapted to your own requirements. By the way, a 60 GB 4K DCI 4096x2160 ProRes 422 HQ file will soon be available for download to bypass the YT compression.
