Flash memory specialist Lexar has launched its new Diamond Series Professional CFexpress Type B cards, which it claims are the fastest CFexpress memory cards currently available. Designed to meet the needs of professional filmmakers in particular, these cards enable smooth RAW video recording in 8K, 6K, 4K, as well as fast transfer of recorded data to a computer, with read speeds of up to 1900 MB/s, peak write speeds of 1700 MB/s, and a sustained minimum write speed of 1600 MB/s. For example, Angelbird&s 160 GB AV PRO CFexpress Type-B memory card has a somewhat low minimum write speed of 1,480 MB/s.
Lexar Diamond CFexpress Type-B
The Lexar Diamond CFexpress Type B memory cards are available in capacities of 128 GB or 256 GB and use the high-speed PCIe Gen 3x2 and NVMe protocols for transfer. They also supported the VPG 400 specification for professional video recording, meaning a minimum write speed of 400 MB/s is guaranteed. The memory cards are also shock, vibration and temperature resistant, and backward compatible with select XQD cameras - plus Lexar offers a limited lifetime warranty.
