Two new affordable lenses are appearing for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts: the Viltrox AF 85mm F2.0 EVO and the Meike 85mm f/1.8 SE II. The latter is a revised re-release and is also available for the L-Mount—for only 249 Euros.

The fast full-frame lens Meike 85mm f/1.8 SE II is equipped with autofocus—described by the manufacturer as quiet—with support for eye/face tracking and weighs 369g. The minimum focusing distance is 65cm.
The optical design comprises 11 elements in 7 groups; the aperture consists of 11 blades. Filters with a 62mm diameter can be used, and the lens itself is approximately 100mm long. New firmware can be installed via a USB-C port.
It is expected to be available for Sony E, L-Mount, and Nikon Z at the end of November, priced at 249 Euros, as mentioned.
Viltrox AF 85mm F2.0 EVO
The Viltrox AF 85mm F2.0 EVO is slightly more sophisticated, offering a de-clickable aperture, two control rings, and a degree of weather sealing (protection against dust and moisture).

Weighing 340g and having a length of 76mm, it is also somewhat more compact (filter size 58 mm). The optical construction with 10 elements in 8 groups includes, among others, 2 ED and 2 HR elements. The minimum focusing distance here is 0.74m. Like the Meike, it uses a stepping motor for autofocus. A USB-C port and an FN switch are included.
The Viltrox AF 85mm F2.0 EVO is now expected to be available for 315 Euros for Sony E and Nikon Z.
