Litepanels has introduced a new, improved version of its handy Lykos bi-color mini LED panel, the 0.5kg Lykos+. While the Lykos + uses the same package as its predecessor, it offers 40% higher output, delivering 2,000 lux of illumination across its entire variable light temperature range of 3,200 to 5,600K at 1 meter. §PIC1§:Litepanels Lykos+
This was made possible by adding to the TIR lens technology used in the Lykos, the LEDs used in Litepanels Bi-Color Panel Astra Seriesalong with the complete Astra LED design to maximize lumens per watt. The brightness of the Lykos+ is dimmable from 0 to 100%, and the color rendering index is very good with a TLCI/CRI value of 96.
Operation. The Lykos+ is controlled by its two simple dials, which control brightness and color temperature - with the help of an optional Bluetooth dongle, it (or multiple Lykos+) can be remotely controlled by iPhone or iPad via Litepanel&s SmartLite Director iOS app. §PIC2§:Litepanels Lykos+
Mobile Power The Litepanels Lykos+ can be powered in several ways when AC power is not accessible to the included AC adapter: for example, it can be powered by Sony-format batteries such as the Anton/Bauer 7.2V NPF via its L-mount battery holder. Alternatively, it is also possible to power the Lykos+ via the optional D-Tap cable using an appropriate compatible larger battery.
Litepanels Lykos+ and Manfrotto Lykos 2.0 Despite having the same name, the Litepanels Lykos+ is not identical to Manfrotto&s Lykos 2.0, which was unveiled at NAB 2019 - both companies are part of the Vitec Group, which also includes brands such as Anton Bauer, Sachtler, Vinten, Teradek and SmallHD. While the Lykos began as a joint project between Litepanels and Manfrotto, in the latest versions of the Lykos (Litepanels Lykos+, Manfrotto&s Lykos 2.0), each brand has adopted the original design and optimized the features for their respective customers. Here&s our hands-on of the Manfrotto Lykos 2.0, which only achieves a maximum illuminance of 1,500 lux in comparison, but has better CRI and TLCI values. §PIC3§:Litepanels Lykos+ Flight Kit
Price and scope of delivery of the Litepanels Lykos+. The Lykos+ will be available soon and will cost approximately . As part of the Lykos+ Flight Kit, which includes three Lykos+ lights, tripods, filters, softbox and a Peli Rolling Flight Case, it will cost around ,100. Included with the 26 x 15.2 x 4.2 cm Lykos+ Bi Color Panel is a diffusion gel that allows all the individual LEDs to be combined into a single light source, eliminating cross-hatching or multiple shadows. Optionally available is a DoP Choice softbox, which is stronger, larger and easier to mount than that of the previous model. more infos at bei www.litepanels.com
