MSI announces new top-of-the-line laptop models with Intel Core HX CPUs with 16 cores

[15:12 sun,5.June 2022   by ]

MSI has announced three new top models for its gaming laptops, which are equipped with the just-introduced Intel Core HX mobile processors with 16 cores and powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080/3070 Ti mobile graphics cards. Their performance specs also make them interesting as mobile workstations for video work. The three new models Titan GT77, Raider GE77 HX and Raider GE67 HX have some of the main features in common, so all three can be optionally configured with an Intel Core i9-12900HX or Intel Core i7-12800HX processor.

Both CPUs have 16 cores (8 performance and 8 efficiency cores or 24 threads), but the i9 can be clocked higher with a 5 GHz turbo clock than the i7 with 4.80 GHz. Furthermore, it has a slightly larger Smart Cache of 30 MB than the i7, which only has 25 MB. In addition, all three can be equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM or an RTX 3070 Ti laptop GPU with 8GB.

The top model MSI Titan GT77 is especially expandable to near desktop workstation level: using the four S0-DIMM slots, it can be equipped with up to 128GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and also up to four M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs thanks to its three M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 and even a new extremely fast M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot (current PCIe 5.0 SSDs reach up to 13GB/s read speeds).

According to MSI, the specially developed Cooler Boost Titan cooling with four fans and heat pipe technology plus a phase-change cooling pad enable very high performance without overheating - so Intel&s HX processors can be used with the maximum Turbo Power of more than 150 watts. By means of MSI&s Overboost technology and a combined power and cooling performance of up to 250 watts for CPU and GPU, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU can also be used permanently with a high clock rate.

Outlook: Mobile Workstation CreatorPro X17 with Intel HX-CPU

MSI also announces that its Creator workstation models, which are aimed specifically at professionals in the field of video editing, among other things, will be equipped with the new HX processors in the future. The future high-end model will be the CreatorPro X17, which will also use a professional NVIDIA RTX A5500 laptop GPU. Sales will start in the third quarter of the year.

MSI pays particular attention to the color fidelity of the display, which is important for creative people: the CreatorPro X17 will be the first laptop in which MSI has expanded its calibration process for the color reproduction of the screen. As with all True Pixel models, the screen of each CreatorPro X17 is individually color calibrated to the Calman standard right at the factory.

As a new feature, the results of the corresponding measurements and optimizations are now directly accessible to the user via a calibration report as a certificate on the laptop. For example, the user finds out exactly the Delta-E or Gamma values of his screen after calibration. MSI announces detailed information about the CreatorPro X17 in the run-up to the market launch.
