RED has released a beta version of the new firmware 1.7.0 for its compact cine camera Komodo with Global Shutter, which brings some interesting new features such as the ability to upload videos directly to the cloud (Frame.io and S3), the new quality level ELQ with lower compression than LQ, autofocus improvements and an integration of accelerometer and gyro data in the metadata of the R3D files for subsequent stabilization. In addition, the Komodo is the first DSMC3 camera to get GioScope, a tool that provides a false-color representation of raw sensor data for better control of correct exposure. RED had previously integrated GioScope on the 2014 RED Epic Dragon 6K via firmware update 5.3.
