Apple, alongside the[new MacBook Pro](www.slashcam.de/news/single/Apple-stellt-MacBook-Pro-mit-M5-Chip-mit-4-mal-meh-19598.html), has also unveiled a new iPad Pro, which utilizes the new M5 chip. This chip is expected to drastically accelerate AI functions especially in video editing compared to its predecessor. Further upgrades for the new iPad Pro include higher memory bandwidth, modernized wireless technology (Wi-Fi 7, new 5G modem), and a revised iPadOS 26 with a windowing system.
**New GPU with Neural Accelerator** Central to the increased performance is the new ten-core GPU, each core accompanied by a Neural Accelerator designed to significantly boost AI performance. According to Apple, the M5 in the iPad Pro is up to 3.5 times faster than the M4. This is relevant for video editing tasks such as transcoding, which is six times faster in Final Cut Pro than on the iPad Pro with M1, and 1.2 times faster compared to the iPad Pro with M4 or for upscaling in DaVinci Resolve (3.7 times faster than M1 and up to 2.3 times faster than M4). ;) New Apple iPad Pro with M5 The number of CPU cores varies by model: Variants with 256 GB or 512 GB of storage feature a 9-core CPU with three performance and six efficiency cores, along with 12 GB of RAM. Models with 1 TB or 2 TB of storage are equipped with a 10-core CPU with four performance and six efficiency cores. **More Bandwidth and Faster Flash Storage** Further acceleration comes from the increased unified memory bandwidth of over 150 GB/s (approximately 30% more than the M4) and the doubling of the internal storage&s read/write speeds. Working with video, which always requires high data throughput, should significantly benefit from these improvements. ;) New Apple iPad Pro with M5 **Wireless Connectivity and Mobility: N1 Wireless Chip, C1X Modem, Wi-Fi 7** New is the N1 chip for wireless connections, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. For Cellular models, the C1X chip replaces the predecessor&s modem and is expected to deliver up to 50% faster cellular data with lower power consumption. For outdoor use, this could lead to significant time savings when transferring data for instance, when uploading or downloading large clips, or generally when collaborating via AirDrop or Hotspot. **Display and External Workflow: Tandem OLED, 120 Hz External Monitor & Adaptive Sync** The new iPad Pro supports external displays with up to 120 Hz and Adaptive Sync. The Ultra Retina XDR display (Tandem OLED) achieves a full-screen brightness of 1,000 nits (SDR/HDR) and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness for HDR content. Optional nanotexture glass reduces reflections without noticeably diminishing contrast. ;) New Apple iPad Pro with M5 and Magic Keyboard **Price and Availability** The iPad Pro with M5 can be pre-ordered starting today. Delivery begins on Wednesday, October 22nd; from this date, it will also be available in Apple Stores and from authorized Apple resellers. It will be offered in 11- and 13-inch versions in Silver and Space Black with 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB of storage. Prices for the 11-inch model start at 1,099 Euros (Wi-Fi) or 1,349 Euros (Wi-Fi + Cellular), and for the 13-inch model at 1,449 Euros (Wi-Fi) or 1,699 Euros (Wi-Fi + Cellular) each for the 256 GB version.
