Boris FX has updated the planar tracker Mocha Pro and, as always, made some improvements. In version 2022.5, for example, there is now a new preprocessing panel in the tracking module, which can be used to tweak unclean images and thus track them easier - in the case of blurring, flickering, noise or the like, more details can be made visible in the image with the tools. The image can also be simply brightened in the viewer, which makes it easier to find edges in dark areas.

The Lens module now supports open splines. This allows lens distortions to be easily traced and then corrected or adjusted. These lens calibrations can also be saved and applied to other sequences shot with the same lens.

Surface settings
With this version, the setting parameters of the Surface tool can be accessed with a simple right click (aspect ratio, alignment, visibility). Also new in Mocha 2022.5 is the ability to zoom in and out using the mouse scroll wheel. Frame rates can also be freely defined. GStreamer also supports Apple M1 Silicon hardware from this version on.
Mocha Pro 2022.5 is available as a stand-alone program or as a plug-in for Adobe After Effects & Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Design, VEGAS Pro, HitFilm and others.
