The planar tracking and masking tool Mocha Pro is available in the new 2025.5 release, including a new face recognition feature. This is designed to eliminate tedious manual masking by automatically detecting and tracking multiple faces in a shot, for example, for quickly blurring people, selective blurring, or advanced color corrections. The face layers contain in and out points for managing workflows. The AI-based Matte Assist ML tool has been expanded with more flexible editing functions. This allows specific, problematic frames to be edited to clean up matte edges or efficiently remove gaps. A matte can also be easily converted into editable splines and back (Reference from Matte / Matte from Reference), which should significantly reduce the time required for detailed matte cleanups. The machine learning model is also said to process data faster.
