With its first app, FXhome takes advantage of the augmented reality technology found in newer Apple mobile devices and offers users an extremely simple motion tracking option. CamTrackAR records 3D tracking data in addition to a normal video, which can then be imported in post production to seamlessly insert moving objects into the filmed images.
Although the tracking data can only be combined with the material from the Apple camera, this can also be practical for simple pre-visualization during the preparations for shooting, for example. And if you're filming with your smartphone anyway, you'll get a new tool.
CamTrackAR is free in the basic version. The tracking data can then be imported into Hitfilm software from the same company as well as into Blender as a Python script. The paid version for a one-time fee of 32.99 Euro (or 5.49 Euro per month) also offers an export of the tracking data to Adobe After Effects (.jsx). This version also allows for more precise work, as several anchor points can be set in the image during recording, whereas the free version only provides one (see
Help-Guide).
The CamTrackAR App runs on Apple devices with iOS 13.2 upwards and is free in the basic version.
