Early this year, LG introduced its first 6K monitor at CES 2025 www.slashcam.de/news/single/LG-UltraFine-32U990A-6K-Monitor---Apples-Pro-Displ-19042.html - now it is also available in Germany. This finally brings another 6K 32" monitor alongside the Dell UltraSharp U3224KB, the Asus ProArt Display 6K PA32QCV, and Apple&s Pro Display XDR. LG&s newcomer sets itself apart from previous models with its modern interfaces, as it is the only one to offer two extremely fast Thunderbolt 5 interfaces (80 Gbps bidirectional, up to 120 Gbps unidirectional). ![]() LG UltraFine 32U990A Competition for Apple&s Pro Display XDRWith the new model, LG primarily aims to offer Apple users a cheaper alternative to the expensive Pro Display XDR—without having to forgo the high 6K resolution. Users of current Apple computers like the MacBook Pro with M4 Pro/M4 Max and Mac minis with M4 Pro already have Thunderbolt 5 onboard and can utilize its maximum speed, allowing the second TB5 port on the LG 32U990A to be used for daisy-chaining other Thunderbolt 5 devices such as additional displays or SSD RAID storage solutions. Especially for Apple users, the Ultrafine 32U990A also includes special features like Studio Mode, which allows for easy color adjustment on Macs using three color presets, and control over the brightness and sound of the UltraFine Evo 6K via the keyboard of a connected Mac computer. Furthermore, with its minimalist design, matte silver look, ultra-thin bezels, and elegant stand, it pairs well with various Apple models. However, rumors suggest that Apple will finally introduce two new Studio Display models next year, which are expected to feature Mini-LED technology—though it remains unclear whether these will also have a 6K resolution. ![]() LG UltraFine 32U990A The 32-inch LG UltraFine evo 32U990A features a factory-calibrated 10-bit Nano-IPS Black panel in a 16:9 format with a resolution of 6,144 × 3,456 pixels (meaning 60 percent more pixels than similarly sized 4K models), thus providing ample desktop space for native 4K video editing, including toolbars. It is VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified and offers excellent color gamut coverage of 99.5% Adobe RGB and 98% DCI-P3. Its typical brightness is 450 nits (peaking at 600 nits)—more than standard monitors, but significantly less than Apple&s Pro Display 6K XDR at 1,600 nits, which, at around 5,000 Euros, is more than twice as expensive as the LG UltraFine 32U990A. ![]() LG UltraFine 32U990A Interfaces and PanelThe interfaces of the UltraFine 32U990A include 2 Thunderbolt 5 ports with 96W charging power, one HDMI 2.1, and one DisplayPort 2.1 port, one USB-C Upstream interface, as well as two slower USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 interfaces. The UltraFine is height-adjustable by 60mm via its stand, can tilt by -5° / + 20°, and can also rotate 90 degrees (pivot) for vertical use. ![]() LG UltraFine 32U990A Price and AvailabilityThe LG UltraFine 32U990A costs 1,999 Euros and is available now. This makes it slightly cheaper than the also 32-inch Dell UltraSharp U3224KB, which starts at 2,144 Euros, but more expensive than the Asus ProArt Display 6K PA32QCV at 1,593 Euros. The LG is similar to both in terms of panel specifications but offers a more modern interface thanks to Thunderbolt 5. deutsche Version dieser Seite: LGs 6K Monitor UltraFine evo 32U990A mit Thunderbolt 5 ist endlich da |
