In our opinion, such a setup would also have to be reliably synchronized with the camera&s shutter, but we found nothing in the paper about this possible setup problem. In any case, the magenta overlay must also be removed from the image in post. To our eyes, the whole thing seems rather laborious to produce a clean alpha channel, but who knows? Maybe the result compensates for the effort. However, if special AI tools are used in post anyway, one wonders whether they might not be able to achieve equally good results with classic illumination in the meantime.
