Canon also announces new broadcast lenses at NAB. The two zoom lenses for 4K broadcast cameras with 2/3-inch type sensors are aimed at broadcasters who are switching their operations to 4K and are particularly suitable for use in documentary and sports productions as well as live events. ![]() Canon CJ18ex28B The CJ18ex28B, despite being designed for 4K, is for the first time as compact as conventional HD lenses and features an 18x zoom with a focal length range of 28 to 500mm. An integrated 2x extender extends the focal length to 1,000mm. ![]() Canon CJ15ex8.5B A 15x zoom starting at 8.5mm can be found on the CJ15ex8.5B, but its main feature is the Bidl stabiliser used -- the Canon Vari-Angle Prism (VAP) image stabiliser relies on "a tilting optical axis that compensates for blur caused by movement and uses a special liquid with a high refractive index that is located between two layers of glass". As far as we know, the VAP-IS has been in use since 2010, for example in the (apparently quite similar) HD broadcast optics HJ15ex8.5B. In a brochure from that time you can find the following illustration of the principle of operation:
![]() Both lenses have an ergonomically designed handle. Fluorite and Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) glass in combination with a particularly high-quality design ensures that the lenses largely suppress chromatic aberrations, colour deviations and hemming. Lens coating technologies and lens design are designed to prevent reflections within the lens barrel and reduce ghosting and stray light. The optical performance supports HDR/WCG (BT.2020), i.e. images with a high dynamic range. The lenses will be presented in Las Vegas, but prices and availability are not yet fixed. ![]() Canon CJ18ex28B ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Neue Zoomobjektive für 4K-Broadcast-Kameras -- Canon CJ18ex28B und CJ15ex8.5B // NAB 2019 |
