Nikon has introduced two new DX lenses for shooting in the APS-C/Super35 format: the standard zoom NIKKOR Z DX 1650mm f/2.8 VR and the macro lens NIKKOR Z DX MC 35mm f/1.7. Both are compatible with Nikon Z mirrorless cameras.
NIKKOR Z DX 1650mm f/2.8 VR
The NIKKOR Z DX 1650mm f/2.8 VR covers a focal length range from 16mm to 50mm with a constant, bright aperture of f/2.8. (According to Nikon, the angle of view is equivalent to 24-75mm in FX/35mm full-frame format.) The zoom lens is designed to offer clear color reproduction with minimal color fringing thanks to an optical design featuring one ED glass element and two aspherical lenses.
The optic features an integrated lens-shift Vibration Reduction (VR) system, which is said to provide up to 5.0 stops of compensation at the center of the image. The integrated stepping motor (STM) ensures quiet autofocus during video recording, and focus breathing is also suppressed. The minimum focusing distance is 0.15 m at the wide-angle end and 0.25 m at the telephoto end.
With an overall length of approximately 88 mm and a weight of approximately 330 g, the dust and drip-resistant zoom lens is quite compact. It features a control ring to which functions such as focus mode (M/A), aperture, exposure compensation, or ISO sensitivity can be assigned.
The NIKKOR Z DX 1650mm f/2.8 VR costs 899 Euros and is expected to be available soon.
NIKKOR Z DX MC 35mm f/1.7
According to Nikon, the bright fixed focal length NIKKOR Z DX MC 35mm f/1.7 is the first NIKKOR Z lens in the APS-C/DX format to achieve a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:1. The short minimum focusing distance of 0.16 m also allows photographers to get very close to the subject, enabling large-format depiction of even small objects.
The 35mm focal length (equivalent to approximately 52mm in FX format) offers an angle of view similar to the human eye and is suitable for a wide range of shooting situations, from portraits and snapshots to detailed close-ups of flowers and plants. Here too, autofocus is driven by a stepping motor (STM), and focus breathing is suppressed.
The NIKKOR Z DX MC 35mm f/1.7 macro fixed focal length lens costs 449.00 Euros and will also be released at the end of October.
