Canon has given its compact entry level EOS M 100 an update to the EOS M 200, which features mainly new video functions and formats: The new EOS M200 now records max. 4K (UHD) video in 24 and 25 fps in MPEG-4 AVC / H.264. The 24.1 MP APS-C sensor seems to have stayed the same, but thanks to the DIGIC 8 processor it can now handle 4K video and 4K time-lapse recordings.
Here the corresponding promotion video for the Cano EOS M200 from Canon USA:
The Dual Pixel AF is available for video recording as well as for the photo area. However, if we have read the Specs correctly, the EOS M200 switches from Dual Pixel AF to Contrast AF for 4K video recording. 1080P recordings are available up to a maximum of 60p - 720p recordings have a maximum of 120 fps.
The 180° foldable touch display should be interesting for selfie shooters and others. In addition, the Canon EOS M200 has Bluetooth and WLAN functions for wireless media sharing and upload as well as remote functions.
The Canon EOS M 200 should be available from October in the kit with the EF-M 15-45mm f3.5-6.3 IS STM for 599,- Euro (RRP.).
